Who am I?

Me and food, food and me, both of us together…

My name is Amanda, and I’m a senior at the University of Vermont. I study Public Communications with a focus on Marketing and Graphic Design. But you didn’t decide to read this blog because I can tell you the difference between leading and tracking.

For me, the kitchen has always been a place where I hang out, do work, or cook. Without fail, anytime there is a family gathering, the kitchen is where we congregate to talk, prepare meals, experiment, eat, and (re)connect with each other. Through these fond family memories, I’ve developed a love for cooking and trying new foods. I’ve never been accused of being a calorie-counter, but rather I believe everything is fine in moderation. At least this is my rationale when I choose Ben and Jerry’s (conveniently located on campus) Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough instead of going to the gym.

I’m extremely interested in the influence that marketing and advertising has over people’s food consumption. This has morphed into another interest of how students make their food choices on campus, and I’m hoping that through these observations and musings I can learn a little more.
